It's All Right, Daddy
Aedric went catatonic after losing Ar3, and the whole table worried he wouldn't come back. Watching a father fall apart without his kid hit close to home for me.
Aedric's catatonic
Now that Ari's gone
Barely answers questions
Just stumbling along
A father lost and lonely
Without his little girl
To save her from death itself
He'd tear apart the world!
He's not acting rational
Jim worries for the guy
Without some sort of trigger
He may not stay alive!
So quietly, Jim pulls out
His theater supplies
As everyone else is asleep
He prepares to sell the lie
Daddy, it's all right now
Can't you see I'm here?
Let's go to the Expo
There's nothing you should fear
With morning's dawn they're all surprised
To see that Jim is gone
Ari apparently is back
Standing calm and strong
She says that it's all right now
She says daddy, please
With a gasp of stunned relief,
Aedric wants to believe
Thracknar's not so sure about
This sudden miracle
His eyes narrow, spotting gaps
In Jim's disguising work
Jasper's totally convinced
But worries about Jim
Ari says Jim was a traitor
So she had to kill him!
Daddy, it's all right now
Can't you see I'm here?
Let's just go back home
There's nothing you should fear
Yeah, well where's the body?
The halfling's worry stood
Jim, disguised as robot
Says I threw it in the woods
The dice support the story
Impossible it seems
But when you're a dad in pain
You'll grasp at any string
We head back towards the south, then
Jim adds a wrinkle to the con
As Ari tells her father
In disguise she'll come along
To prevent discovery
She'll pretend to be Jim
So Jim takes off the disguise
Of Ari, now pretending to be him?
Wait, what?
Daddy, it's all right now
Can't you see I'm here?
Let's go to the Expo
There's nothing you should fear
Insane, yes, thanks to twenties
Versus ones, paradigm shifts
Now Jim's posing as Ari
Who's pretending to be Jim!
How is anybody supposed to undo this?
The logic's undeniable
No place to pick apart
Even Aedric's dice agree
To soothe his battered heart
Ari, we'll come find you
But your father needs his wits
To have a chance to save you from
The Wisdom, the Eclipse!
Daddy, it's all right now
Can't you see I'm here?
Let's go to the Expo
There's nothing you should fear
Aedric, it's all right now
You can believe it in your soul
Jim doesn't have too many skills
But he's good at filling holes!
Aedric, we'll be all right!
Won't rest until it's so
When you're incomplete inside
We're all just walking holes
Yeah, when we miss the ones we love
We're all just aching holes!
