Cascade

We're sitting 'round a table in a world of make-believe

With a handful of dice and a trick up our sleeve
The story's getting serious, the mood is getting dark
We're looking for a reason, we're looking for a spark
Someone cracks a stupid joke, a throwaway line
And someone else adds to it, and says, hey, that's mine

And it starts as a whisper, and then it's a shout
There's no way of stopping what's coming about
Line by line, we're building it up to the sky
With a look on your face asking everyone why

And it's a cascade, we're losing control
A beautiful madness that's good for the soul
The tears in our eyes and we can't catch our breath
Laughing so hard that we're scaring off death
It's a feedback loop chorus, a ridiculous art
The sound of a single, shared, wonderful heart

The story is forgotten, the quest is on hold
A treasure more precious than silver or gold
The absurdity's perfect, it's stupid and smart
The moment we all get to fall apart
I'm doubled-over wheezing, trying to make it all stop
But you add a new line and we go over the top

And it started as a whisper, and now it's a roar
And we don't even remember what we're laughing for

And it's a cascade, we're losing control
A beautiful madness that's good for the soul
The tears in our eyes and we can't catch our breath
Laughing so hard that we're scaring off death
It's a feedback loop chorus, a ridiculous art
The sound of a single, shared, wonderful heart

No performance, no mask, no trying to be
Anything other than stupid and free
And in this one moment, I am not alone
We're building a kingdom on a funny-bone throne

And it's a cascade, we're losing control
A beautiful madness that's good for the soul
The tears in our eyes and we can't catch our breath
Laughing so hard that we're scaring off death
It's a feedback loop chorus, a ridiculous art
The sound of a single, shared, wonderful heart
