The Valkyrie's Promise
Out of options, I prayed for a sign. When my doctor suggested shock therapy for my depression, it felt like a Valkyrie might finally come with a sword. I was still hoping someone else would come and rescue me.
This fragile hope, this broken shield
The last man on the battlefield
I've proven I can stand and fight
And burn against the endless night
But every victory's a loss
A higher price, a heavier cross
I am the one who'll never yield
And I am going to get killed
So hear my prayer, a final scream
A dying man, a broken dream
Send me a sign, send me a sword
Send me your last and truest word!
I've held the line, I've paid the cost
But now my own damn soul is lost
I'm on my knees, I'm out of time
A final, bloody, desperate climb!
And through the rain, a sudden light
A star that burns the morning bright
A winged horse, a spear of frost
A warrior for the truly lost
She lands in silence on the stone
And speaks to me, and me alone
Her voice, a shield-wall, strong and clear
The one you need is not yet here
But he is coming, is what she said
To wake the living, and the dead
A champion of thunder, bright and bold
A story that has not been told
He has the hammer, has the might
To help you win this final fight
So hold the line, and wait for dawn
The beast is not the only pawn
She turns and flies into the grey
And I am left to wait and pray
The beast is watching from the gloom
Alone inside this frozen tomb
The warrior's coming, so she swore
And I don't think I can take much more
But I will wait
I'll hold the line
I’ll hold the line
