Treaty Treats
Every morning, three cats wait at the bathroom door for their fish-shaped treats. It's a peace treaty, and I pay it gladly.
Every morning when I get up
Greeted by three balls of fluff
Stalking, watching through the door
Waiting for their chance to score
Done in the bathroom, kitchen's next
Shake down the kibble, top the wet
Water fountain needs some more
Kitties sing their song to implore
Everybody loves those treaty treats
It's their favorite thing to eat
Green and crunchy, shaped like fish
It's the kitties' fondest wish
Talk to the kitties, they mew back
Begging for their special snack
Please, please, papa, they seem to beg
Give us treats, we'll rub your leg
Everybody loves those treaty treats
It's their favorite thing to eat
Green and crunchy, shaped like fish
It's the kitties' fondest wish
One gets scattered like chicken grain
To slow her down, Cedar's a pain
She scarfs her treats and tries to take
Mister Mazer's from his face
Aspen hunches, crunches once,
Down that treat goes with a gulp
How's he slower than Cedar Cat?
She eats like breathing, but he seems fat!
Everybody loves those treaty treats
It's their favorite thing to eat
Green and crunchy, shaped like fish
It's the kitties' fondest wish
Mister Mazer takes his time
Partway through, he's inclined
To wander off and clean his face
Never gets 'em all, 'cause Cedar's pace
Got to stand by the pile left
Wait for coffee, take a breath
Polite, tell Cedar that's not hers
Gently stroke her otter furs
Everybody loves those treaty treats
It's their favorite thing to eat
Green and crunchy, shaped like fish
It's the kitties' fondest wish
Everybody loves those treaty treats
It's their favorite thing to eat
Green and crunchy, shaped like fish
It's the kitties' fondest wish
Everybody here loves kitty cats
Stretched out purring, like furry mats
Soft and fluffy, shaped like rugs
Tolerating our gentle hugs
