Possibility Reality
A what-if song. What if human belief is what shapes the world we live in? Maybe magic worked back when people believed in it, and stopped when we decided it couldn't. Maybe the myths were all true, and we've just gotten small out of fear.
Ancient times the myths foretold
Monsters, demons, heroes old
Mighty fights that changed the land
Powers gone no more in hand
The world was flat once all believed
Open eyes and they could see
The horizon stretching far
Endless lands under strange stars
Magic isn't gone or lost
Folks now just can't pay the cost
Letting go of certainty
Lose grip on reality
Dragons lurked beneath the waves
Friendly mermaids, sailors saved
The gods looked down and came to play
In varied animal shapes
We think that we're clever now
Explaining to our children how
Our ancestors were such fools
So be good and go to school
Magic isn't gone or lost
Folks now just can't pay the cost
Letting go of certainty
Lose grip on reality
The world's a sphere, the math can tell
Limit resource, modern hell
The facts all tell us that we're cursed
But what if we've got it reversed?
What if facts don't cause belief
What if faith makes new truth seem
Possible, however strange
Reconcile past deranged
Magic isn't gone or lost
Folks now just can't pay the cost
Letting go of certainty
Lose grip on reality
If your belief shapes your life
Then you're responsible for strife
The struggle in your day your cause
An awful thought that gives us pause
If all's our fault, what's wrong with us
Why would we choose awful stuff
Imagine, stead, some better facts
And see how your new self acts
Lose grip on reality
Lose grip on reality
What's so great about reality
