The Strongest Man

The dark side of getting what I want. All the strength in the world, and everyone wants a piece of him, when all he wants is to stay true to the one person he loves. Being wanted by everyone turns out to be its own kind of trap.

I've got the strength of giants, got the courage of a mouse
Every woman in the world is trying to get inside my house
They don't see the man inside, they only see the prize
The terror and the guilt I'm trying to hide behind my eyes
They call it a great honor, a blessing from above
But this trophy that I've won is a stranger to the love... I'm dreaming of

And the blood rushes south, and my will just turns to sand
Another battle lost before I even make a stand...

'Cause they're always grabbing, always taking what they can
From the strongest, but the weakest, broken man
And I've been drowning in the shame of a victory I hate
Just a monster who's been cursed by a kind and terrible fate
But you didn't try to take me, you didn't try to win
You just offered me your hand and asked to let you in

The post-nut clarity's a curse, a cold and lonely dawn
Just a new mistake to run from, another pawn
In a game I never asked to play, with rules I didn't write
Just a long and losing battle in the middle of the night
And I tell myself I'm worthless, a creature of the sin
The weakest man who's ever been, for always giving in

And my strength is just a prison, my body is a cage
Just another empty chapter on a torn and stained page...

And maybe I don't have to be the monster after all
Maybe there's a different way to finally stand up tall
Maybe strength is not the power to just push them all away
But the courage to accept a hand... and choose to stay

You just offered me your hand...
And asked to let you in...
...and I think...
I think I can
