Wanna Smash
The funny follow-up. My inner dragon is starved, terrible at small talk, and would really like to skip to the good part. The real point is me teaching it to accept "no" when it hears it.
I'm not a monster, I'm just starved, I haven't eaten in a while
And I'm not really practiced at this "social" kind of style
So when I see a spark of light, a signal in the grey
My inner beast just wakes right up and wants to come and play
He's bad at all the little parts, the "how d'you do," the "dance"
He just wants to skip the intro and get right to the romance
He's a little bit intense, yeah, I know he's "too much"
He's a dragon who's forgotten what it's like to even touch
He says "It's easy! She's the one!
The battle's over, the war is won!"
He makes me make that clumsy lunge
A "bad attempt" I should expunge
But he's just happy that you're here
And wants to make it crystal clear...
My Dragon's screaming, "WANNA SMASH!"
But the King says, "Not so fast."
Yeah, see that gleam deep in my eye?
That's just my Dragon saying "Hi!"
But if you're not here for the ride
My heart is not so full of pride
That I can't take a simple "no"
I’ll find a different way to grow!
So if I come on way too strong, a little bit too... me
It's just the sound of a reactor that is yearning to be free
I'm not a hunter, not a creep, my promises are true
I'm just a man who's terrified of what he's gotta do
To get the simple, human things the "normal" people get
Without a life of calculation and a sea of sweat
So I just put it on the table, a clumsy, honest bid
The hopeful, stupid, brilliant plea of a forgotten kid
He says "It's destiny! It's fate!
Before it is too god-damn late!"
I say, "My friend, just hold the line
A 'no' right now is doing fine
It's just a fact, it's just the data
We'll see the rest of it all later!"
My Dragon's screaming, "WANNA SMASH!"
But the King says, "Not so fast."

It's just a line we cannot cross
A "no" is not a "kick in nads"
It's just a fact, it's not all bad
It's data, from a fellow peer
That says, "The border starts right here."
A sovereign king respects a "no"
And lets his garden…

Maybe “just friends” is what we'll be…
