The Space Inside
This kicked off the introspection. I felt so trapped that I was convinced I must be the problem. It took a long time and a lot of work (and songs) to realize that wasn't true: the world is designed for one kind of person, and I'm something else, is all.
Don't know where I'm goin'
Can't forget where I've been
Sharp edges jabbin'
I'm not fittin' in
Sick of all the lyin'
Tired of the grind
No more time for cryin'
Gotta free my mind
Can't build a bridge
There's no other side
So let me go, baby
I'll try to fly
Maybe we can make it
And maybe I'll just try
To fill it with some kind of dream
The space inside
Everybody grabbin'
See what they can get
Not buyin' what they're givin'
It's all just worthless shit
Doesn't fix the problem
Time for something new
Think I need some solvin'
Baby, how 'bout you?
Can't build a bridge
There's no other side
So let me go, baby
I'll try to fly
Maybe we can make it
And maybe I'll just try
To fill it with some kind of dream
The space inside
Sometimes the best you can
Just isn't good enough
Opportunities at hand
Call for different stuff
When nothing's left to feed you
Your heart is starving out
Find somewhere to be you
Head a different route
Can't build a bridge
There's no other side
So let me go, baby
I'll try to fly
Maybe we can make it
And maybe I'll just try
To fill it with some kind of dream
The space inside
No, I can't build a bridge
There's no other side
You gotta let me go, baby
And I'll try to fly
Maybe I can make it
And maybe I'll just die
But without some kind of dream
I'm just space inside
Nothing here is what it seems
I'm just space inside
