Secret Imaginary Garden (Remastered)
Written with Amber Stegner
Another of my wife's high-school poems: a secret walled garden of ivy, willows, bees and dancing fairies. It's the kind of place you build in your head when the real world isn't enough, and I wanted to give it a sound.
In my secret imaginary garden
Grass, green as green
Shining in the sunlight
Along the wall ivy growing ever farther
In my secret imaginary garden
In my secret imaginary garden
Fairies dance one by one
On streams gentle and clear
A breeze stirs the flower straight and proud
In my secret imaginary garden
In my secret imaginary garden
Take a dip, just a sip, just to see
The willows whisper in the wind
All I need is close at hand
Lulled by the buzzing of the bees
In my secret imaginary garden
Life's the pace that I intend
Without the hustle
Nor the bustle
Or any conflict to contend
